Aeonic's Ship Gallery
That's pretty shiny there... I'd like to actually see it in Vanilla. Among other things. But George works at his own pace and does what he wants... so who know?
My first mod, mostly done, still balance testing.

Sometime it would be nice to start a site dedicated to quality, bug and issue free mods that do nothing but enhance or expand upon the vanilla gameplay. That means only mods which are balanced, which add new missions, new items, new ships, etc... That way you could just go to the site, look through the list and see which expansions you'd like to have, and download those expansions, confident that they're not going to ruin the gameplay any.
Last Cause Of Death: Destroyed by Karl Svalbard's last Lucifer missile, right after I blew him up. And the crowd cheers.

We tried to make a list of those mods on the wiki once. Don't know if it has been updated though.
But i agree with you... as good as xelerus is there are some ares that could use some love

Xelerus operates the opposite way, assuming that all the mods are good and the ones that aren't go in WIP, Developement or GODmod.
The WIKI tried to address the issue by having a single list of 'approved' mods although it is not easily accessible.

You can't do it on a wiki. Anyone can nominate anything on a wiki, and even if people are polite enough not to nominate their own mods there are still people with wildly different opinions of what constitutes balance.
Consider there are players who consider the IM90 underpowered and players who consider it overpowered because it fits the playstyle of the former very poorly and the playstyle of the latter very well.

Also an "approved mod" is not the same thing. There are a lot of good mods that simply don't mix with the vanilla game, or are incompatible with other mods, etc... Ideally this list would be of mods where you can download them all and everything works. No issues, no incompatibilities, etc...
For example, someone might make a very cool Millennium Falcon mod, but obviously the Millennium Falcon belongs in the Star Wars universe, not the transcendence universe, therefor it doesn't fit with the game.

Anyone care to suggest some good names for this ship?Aeonic wrote:this is a ship created to work as a support or escort ship.

I started looking at mining equipment but quickly dismissed that. Even ancient mining tools had functional names. I then looked at some material base nomenclature, elemental and thought perhaps following some alchemical names might work.
Considering the strong relation of alchemy with the game already this could be a good fit. (Earth, Wind, Fire, Water)
The alchemical element of Earth is associated with:
-the geometric cube
-by the greek gods Ceres, Demeter, and Persephone or Proserpina
-salt
-by the indian goddess Prithvi and Budha
other words with minor associations: Malkuth, Uriel, Baeko,
There's a ton of interesting words on wikipedia if you want to go that route.

That's a fabulous way to piss me off, just so you know.

If someone doesn't point out unfortunate associations in the design stage they make it into finished products.
You don't want to be known as the guy who published an accidental phallic symbol.
There was, a few years back, a contest to find accidentally phallic corporate logos. I guarantee you that the graphic designers and marketing departments responsable for the "winning" logos are not proud of the distinction.
