now that I have a stable internet connection I encourage everyone to join the irc channel just to hang out and talk Transcendence
Crying is not a proper retort!

i really hate when i'm online in the transcendence IRC and seeing a lot of "onliners" and saying:
Dalva: Hello
5 minutes later...
Dalva: someone there, cmon i see onliners...
10 minutes later:
Dalva: Damn, i'm Outta Here
then i log out
pretty bad eh?

Dalva, you have to consider that some people that are online "always" cannot be possibly in front of the monitor all the time.
Because I have a laptop I'm not always online.
Most of the people online are from the American continent, so you have to make some calculations to find people online.
I can say for myself: I'm online normally 19:00-23:00 GMT.

It's the way IRC works! You actually need idlers to make a good channel.
If everyone would log off when they're away the channel would desolate after some time!
IRC is a place of patience. You join you say something and you wait

I've been known to drop hints about the inner workings of Transcendence on IRC from time to time as well, which might be of interest to those of you who mod...

The FAQ tells you, but if you don't want to bother it's not that important. I don't think there's a lot of impersonation going on on #transcendence.
P.S. Most people are on in a background process that they may check periodically. If you come and go as quickly as you've been doing you won't get much help.

I updated the wiki with a section for people new to IRC (like myself) so that they can understand and use it.

why did we move from ##transcendence to #transcendence??
"Dash_Merc - George is a genius, in that he created this game engine that is infinitely extendable"
"<@sheepluva>Good night everybody, may the source be with you." <-- FOSG dev
"You only need THREE tools in life - WD-40 to make things go, Duct Tape to make things stop And C-4 to make things go away"
We didn't move to #transcendence! It's a placeholder we took long time ago!
Freenode policy states that channels starting with single # must be official channels meaning that a person affiliated to the project (project leader, or high staff of the project) must file a GCF (group contact form) to offically register that channel!
Though channels with ## are unoffical channels and my be run as 'third party' channels from persons independent to the project! I don't know why the people started joining #transcendence lately but I'll look into it and rechange the topic and notice in #transcendence to reflect these facts!
##transcendence IS the channel you should/must join!
//Edit I: I just saw that you set the new Topic in #transcendence Taben! Any reasons for that?
//Edit II: Ttech I just saw that the first post of this thread still refers to the '#' channel could you (a moderator) edit the first post? Best would be to link to http://wiki.neurohack.com/transcendence/wiki/irc as it holds the most informations
//Edit III: Just heard that we're moving to the single # channel? Any announcement on that? How can it be that such a step is taken without any notice?
