1)Im new to the game and want to use mods and have used a few, but i want to know what you veterans think i should use without it taking away from the original challenge and spirit of the game.

2) Also what would be a good way to keep up with the profile names for all my new games? Can george maybe put a drop-down list on the main menu displaying all your profiles? It would help alot. How can I get that suggestion to him?

If you want to try other ships, then the ships by Aeonic are really nice renders, and generally regarded as quite well balanced.

The Captains Log 2.0 by Bobby is a very nice and useful mod. (Being reworked atm I think)

Also UGWingmen is a very popular and nice mod

SFSpaceStations and NoDock NavBeacons are also really handy additions.

The almighty wrench is also a pretty nice mod, although it can be considered quite a game changer.

There are tons of more good mods, those are off the top of my head.

As an answer to number 2

Pen and paper :)

If you want to add suggestions, posting in the Bugs and Brainstorms is normally the way to go. You can also come by IRC for discussing a feature if you are not sure whether to post it or not. Finally there is a bug tracker that you can register for, where feature suggestions are also welcome.

And my mod recommendation would be the FalconCV mod (even if you don't use the ship) as it has some other really nice features (like scuttling wrecks and turbolaser sound overrides). And if you really don't feel like using the included powerful new turrets or combo cargo holds, just change their frequency from "rare" to "notrandom" in the XML.

The Stalwart gunship is a pretty decent mod to start off with, if you have problems getting past the first system. You can try the Agauptera yacht as well; that adds a bundle of laughs.

yeah the pic is from Battlestar Galactica mod. Nice call!

I cant find a ship that has good acceleration or thrust and turn, without it only having 10 ton cargo hold. Any suggestions????

The stock wolfen has 35 ton cargo hold, and has nice maneuverability.
But that's not a mod... ;)

Try the northwind ship pack. They have install restrictions, but all have exceptional speed and acceleration and the Zephyr and Tempest have maneuverability as good as anything in the game. The Zephyr has a 20 ton hold and the Tempest a 30 ton hold. I can't think what you've tried with only 10 tons of cargo space.

All the 10 ton(cargo) ships are in the All Stock Player Ships mod. Theres like 140 of them or so. It's cool if all the fast ones didn't have only 10 ton cargo and 50 max cargo.

It's pretty easy to change those values yourself. Just open up the xml and you should see
