What was the earliest you ever got the particle cannon? I just had a great game where I got one by the 3rd system O_o
I'm not sure if that normally happens (I don't suppose it does), but I found it in a wreck. (oddly enough, about one of the few stations I havnt touched yet with my mods, the charon cache with a turbolaser)
Earliest particle cannon

On my first run where I actually finished the game (Sapphire, I prefer Wolfen now, though I miss the cargo space and versatile slots), I wound up with a Shuriken +20% as loot from something during the 3rd or 4th system, IIRC. Very strange indeed. But very nice. Now I always seem to have trouble getting enough money or luck for something decent before St. K's.
My first mod, mostly done, still balance testing.

I got a tritium propulsion engine from arco once, sold it and bought a Mark I howitzer, then sailed to charon and accidentally blew up Korolov myself!
Coming soon: The Syrtian War adventure mod!
A Turret defense genre mod exploring the worst era in Earth's history.
Can you defend the Earth from the Syrtian invaders?
Stay tuned for updates!

I found one in the first few systems before, maybe even Eridani once or twice, but I never installed one so soon, I get the 50mw before installing particle, and usually skip to lancer or duel.
Maybe off topic, but this game I got an x-ray from saving Korolov, stuck a collimator on it not long after that.

this is awesome:
Eridani: a pair of DM1500's (+ the one for the arco mission) and a turbolaser and nearly 40 barrels of centauri rice! (so I bought my miner's hold)
system 2: a dual turbolaser, a korolov that let me get a whole bunch of missions (almost to master) before giving the kill the fortress mission
system 3: an akan 30, a little over a hundred akan 30 shells, a class III deflector, a buttload of roms, and another korolov (so I might be able to get my class V deflector)! O_o

My apologies for a rather obvious case of forum necromancy....
especially on my first post o these forums.
But, believe it or not, in my most recent game, I found a lancer cannon in a centauri base in the second system. A *big* change from my usual fortunes...
(In case anyone is wondering, an accelerated fast smartcannon doesn't work that well against Sung...or aginst the Drakes in Charon...I have found this out at least 3 times.)
My reaction on seeing the Lancer there:
---> ---> !
Edit: Might not have been a centauri station, now i think of it. More liely to have been a Charon or Miners base....but second system is pretty sweet regardless of how I get it.

Hi Shrike,
welcome to Transcendence Forums.
Put a +Fast rom on that lancer cannon
About the necromancy, we don't have much problems here with that (small community) unless it's a totally outrageous one

Well, I really just want to post in this thread to say "lol" to Shrike, but I have something ever so slightly relevant to post as well.
My Stephinian Missile Rack mod never got a level turn-up, so I'd keep finding it in Eradani... And back before something changed in 99(something) it was a 1-hit kill for any station (assuming you got the hit right, it only did damage when shot from the left). It was actually a neat thing, and actually balanced on ships, it would always completely immobilize them and take down their shields, but it would never actually kill the ship.

[schilcote] It doesn't have to be good, it just has to not be "wow is that the only thing you could think of" bad

I'm planning to. Lancer+Fast is my fav weapon until I can get a katana+fast, or the Dvalin Ion9 and some ion upgrades.digdug wrote:Hi Shrike,

Akthough I'm also a fan of crate bombs....but I tend to use a mod I have to spawn things like plasma pods to put in them....and lots and lots of tiny enemies to kill with it....I'm starting to not blow myself up as well...
(not sure if that's M5s, M2s or Plasma Pods....whatever it is, it blew up my wingman...and when I tried to reload the game after fixing up the screenshot on photobucket a few days ago, it crashed my comp. )
And thanks for the welcome...I appreciate it.

I think corporates are easier to trigger. One death will set the lot off. Diemoses you need to kill two near eachother. Critical density for Corporates is also half what it is for Diemoses to sustain the shockwave. I think Aquilas require the same density as Deimoses. I've never tried CSCs.
