As for the idea of weapon groups, that was admittedly wishful thinking. In Mechwarrior, it's as simple as selecting a weapon and pressing (if memory serves) Shift+1 or Shift+2 to toggle a weapon's group assignment.
I had assumed that weapons already had some sort of slot number internally that could be mapped to the number keys without much hassle. If they don't, it seems to me that simply assigning them based on the order in which they were installed would make the most sense. You could add a tiny "[1]" or "[2]" before the weapon name on the HUD and/or in the ship configuration screen.george moromisato wrote:17 [Lokasenna] More flexibility when using weapons: I'm not sure how this would work in practice. How does the player map from a number key to a weapon? It might require a lot of UI.

For now, a (presumably) quick and dirty fix would be that all installed secondary weapons (e.g., ion lancers on a worldship) fire when the fire button is pressed and hostile targets (and/or a selected target) is within weapons range.george moromisato wrote:Secondary weapons usable by player-controlled capital ships: I would like to see a detailed design on this. For instance, are there more keys that the player has to hit? Are the weapons automatic? How are they installed? Best bet is to reduce this to a set of simple features of the engine and implement the rest in a mod. What is the minimum set of features required of the engine to do this?
This does not address all of the issues with secondary weapons, but at least it will make them functional for the player.

Yeah, the mechwarrior grouping system was so sweet. I remember putting six ER large lasers on a Daishi, man it was just BLAM! your hosed. BLAM! you too.
such fun.
but, back to topic. maybe another ship control screen? like a section called Weapon systems?
Something like that would be so awesome. and it would make weapon slots a lot more important. since you could install lots of weapons and fire them all at once. Like my Daishi... BLAM!
such fun.

Code: Select all
______(installed weapons)
Ship's Status--------\

View cargo hold \___(group weapons, set hotkeys, etc.)
Refuel engines
return to Cockpit

I'm a passive player but can I add just one more? I wish there are more Longzu spheres in Sung Citadels or Forts that we can loot. That's all folks!

More non-Longzhu enhancers. They're all too rare except possibly thermo. Also weaken longzhus. Maybe cap them at +50% or something so ion and particle enhancers and diamond field crystals have an actual use.

Personnaly, I would like to see in v1.6 new better player-Rama-jenna community.
MEANS: better friendly links between player and RAMA. I don't know, maybe chat, maybe trade with her, maybe more friends like RAMA in T. ? But however now I don't feel any relationship with rama, and it should be mmm.... fix?

This is a public service announcement:
I just want to remind everyone that before they get their expectations too high, that 1.06, like just about all the other betas for 1.1, is unlikely to contain any big drastic content additions. I'd say even adding items that need only a small amount of XML is pushing it just about as far is its going to go: anything bigger is in all likelyhood going to have to wait till 1.1's RCs or 1.1 itself if there are no RCs.
For bigger things (ie, missions, new content, etc) - you would probably be best of making a 'What do you want in 1.1?' thread

I agree that the hopes were getting kinda big, releases in Transcendences to tend to be smaller changes but more releases. Though the fact you said I approve this message was just great.george moromisato wrote:I am George Moromisato and I approve this message.Wolfy wrote:This is a public service announcement:

That's one of my 1.07 goals. The range limits would be great to have fixed, but I'm not sure how big of a task that may be. And the ability to change AI settings in script would again be awesome, but I think we'd be better off asking for small bits of that at a time so george can focus on specific things (one of which I will be asking for in 1.07) we need rather than trying to implement everything at onceAtarlost wrote:I'd like the ability to change AI settings in script, access the targets the AI arrives at on its own, and the AI to not limit itself to 60 lifetime weapons.

Fixing the range should be trivial. It looks more like a misfeature than a bug. Changing the commonness of enhancers and nerfing longzhus are pretty trivial as well. That just leaves png support, the arena wall mask bug, live swapping the existing AI modes in script instead of hardcoding them in xml, and script access to a couple hidden variables that must exist somewhere already as my big requests.

The bug where if you remain docked at a station for long enough that all enemies currently generated in a system stop firing at you to be fixed would be nice. (or is it just me experiencing that?)
