a CSC India bug (click to enlarge)
it happened on the mission where we have to deliver medical supplies to a commonwealth settlement and the CSC was (i dont know whats it called) paralyzed (spinning round with electricity bolts flying off)
EDIT: thanks george for remembering INDIA

everyone except australia is there...
Umm, yeah, being EMPed is a MAJOR weakness of CSC's...
CSC + dwarg = fail

Yes, Either that or meteorsteel armor. That's EMP immune too I think. The conceit may be that they're too large to shield, but their largest dimension is smaller than the long axis of a Phobos if they're to the same scale.
Maybe weapons that actually do damage would be nice too. All those turbolasers do next to nothing against Areans and aren't so hot against Sung or Dwarg either. I don't want to think what would happen if the Terra got on the wrong side of the Xenophobes. Give it at least some slam cannons or particle cannons so it's not using the lowest damage type. I'm almost tempted to say give them a Mark V howitzer as well so the Antarctica can shoot back at you, but that would give allied CSCs too much of a "footprint".

I've had one of the CSCs shot to pieces by them in a recent game. One worldship is actually enough.Atarlost wrote:I don't want to think what would happen if the Terra got on the wrong side of the Xenophobes.
Isn't it scary that Adventurer Outfitters have omni ion cannons, while actual warships are armed with pea shooters?Give it at least some slam cannons or particle cannons so it's not using the lowest damage type.
Actually, instead of usual TeV9, CSC Terra is equipped with powerful starcannons, which can easily finish the worldship within a moment (but not Luminous drones, you know). I agree that those TeV9's don't do much good against Dwargs but, at the very least, they are not so weak as turbolasers.Atarlost wrote: I don't want to think what would happen if the Terra got on the wrong side of the Xenophobes.
Sorry for the double post, but I just had an experience with the Antarctica that reminded me of this thread. It's seriously weak against long ranged weapons, particularly given that the reward for killing it is more versatile than the reward for rescuing it. The ICX helps against Howitzers, but does nothing against a Katana. Perhaps it should have the same loadout as the Terra so it's not a complete pushover at range, or maybe Mark V Howitzers so it's not a pushover for anyone with a level 7 shield and a blue ethyrium crystal. Since Aquilas appear nowhere else they could be strengthened to not make the rescue option too easy, or simply made a bit more numerous to compensate for any enhancment to Antarctica's killing power.
Hmm, 4 TeV9's firing 6 times per second (CSC's have fireRateAdj="10") beat that 1 heavy ion cannon firing at 3.7 per second.Ihlosi wrote:Isn't it scary that Adventurer Outfitters have omni ion cannons, while actual warships are armed with pea shooters?
But not by much.
In fact, against level 9 armor and better, just 1 heavy ion cannon is better than 4 TeV9's Basically, CSC's are super destructive against lower level enemies, but against those high level freaks (and particle-resistant lower levels as well) they are rather weak.
Anyway, I somehow like this... TeV9 sounds (the name) and looks great. Perhaps adding an auxillary weapon of different type just to avoid being completely helpless against adjusted luminous or those dwargs...and sung to some degree... say, some blast weapon. Xenophobe worldship would still own it, but hey, that's why we are there to help CSC's and blast those pervy xenophobes to little fragments.
Also, how come CSC's aren't equipped with at least some kind of patcher devices? That makes them vulnerable in the long run... I mean, I LIKE it that they are vulnerable, but some way to repair themselves would still be nice.

Yeah, come on. The Ranx Dread has two patch spiders. How cheap are the Commonwealth... Wait... That's it. In the game you get the idea that nobody in the Commonwealth cares about the war anymore. It has moved past where they live and except for those that have family members out there nobody remembers the destructive power of the Are's. Maybe CSC's are weak to fill in that segment of the story. It would explain Centurions too.
This is our game. And George is our hero.
Don't knock Centurions. The AI makes them weak, but if Transcendence were a MMORPG a well piloted Centurion X would be able to make mincemeat of anything in the Ares arsenal one on one. In the hands of someone with no social life one could wipe out the entire Ares orthodoxy subject only to refueling constraints. The basic Centurion isn't so hot, but it should be about a match for a Sandstorm or Tundra with the right tactics.
The commonwealth's problem is the carriers, not the Centurions.
