Dark matter weapons?

Just idle speculation. I had always assumed that the dark acid, dark steel, dark lightning, and dark fire damage types were for some sort of dark matter weapons that George had envisioned. But maybe they are just weird alien weapons from a different universe. Or ghost weapons. Or weapons used exclusively by a race of nyancats.

Dark Acid and Dark Steel are dark matter, whereas Dark Lightning and Dark Fire are dark energy, an even more mysterious substance with inherent FTL properties.

But otherwise, these damage types are associated with the Hierodules and Core Minds. Only Domina has been seen using Dark Steel (Circle of Wrath) and Dark Lightning (Shatter), while Dark Acid belongs to the cult of Oracus.

Energy damage types include laser, particle, ion, positron, antimatter, graviton, dark acid, and dark lightning.
Matter damage types include kinetic, blast, thermo, plasma, nano, singularity, dark steel, and dark fire.

Actually it's been so long since I've played I doubt Kitten Pods are still the most powerful weapon in the game. They were when I left, but you had like a one-in-bazillion chance of finding ammo.

If you found even 1 kitten pod you could replicate more, but many games you could make it all the way past the Iocrym battleship without seeing a single kitten.

Nyan Cat wouldn't have that problem, of course.

Kytryn plasma pods are usually rubbish, useful only for harming Phobos and Iocrym. For everything else, thermo missiles (especially Ares missiles) are more effective.
