So, I've noticed that George is making new version of Transcendence based on 1/100th incrementations, eg -- 1.01, 1.02, 1.03.

When exactly is Transcendence Part II going to take place? Version 1.1? Or Version 2.0?

Because, to be honest, that could be a very long time -- with 96 more editions to go to 2.0, at a rate of one every 3(?) months, that will take 32 months or just under three years.

Is that an accurate model? I know George has been working on this since circa 2003, so is that how long it will take?

Ship-changing is supposed to come in with 1.1, so does that mean 1.1 will be part II?

Any feedback from George is appreciated! :D

Part II will be version 2.0

Like most versioning schemes, there is no problem with skipping numbers, so don't expect 95 more versions...

I believe it was going to be 2.0, it used to be on the Versions page of the Transcendence site I recall.

I remember seeing on the official site that a skeletal part II would come in version 1.5. Version 2.0 would be completed, like Part I is officially done in version 1.0, but it was in development since .7.

Yeah, sorry I just remembered it here.

The bit 1.1 with automatic updates will be nice and 1.5 will have a skeleton of Part II. I can't wait for these version! :D

Personally I suspect there will be 1.05, then 1.1.* and then 1.5, 1.5.* and then 1.6 (ish) and then finally 2.0 . But don't quote me because that is just my guess.

Part II will be developed in the 1.X-2.0 timescale
By 2.0 be "complete" with "minor polishing" to be done, as Part I was with 1.0 - And then would come Part III, Part IV, so on , so forth. :D Lol jk, it ends at Part III (as far as we know >.>)

2.0 is a very long ways off, but you will likely start seeing Part II content (plans & pictures & stuff on the forum, not actually stuff in-game) by 1.2 I think, if I understood one of george's statements correctly. /MAYBE/ 1.1, but I wouldn't count on it. I think 1.1 is just finalizing the Part I content (ie, ringer ships, Digital metropolis stuff (maybe)), etc. Of course it would still be awesome if we got Part II stuff revealed following the release of 1.1; I'm just saying don't get your hopes up.

1.5 I think is when Part II stuff makes it in-game.

Part II TSB stuff is for the most part probably going to be coming in at about the same timeframe as what george is using.

I quoted just because you asked not to be quoted
...
this brings up a question about "part III"
will there be one and will it be 3.0 :?:

Also take into account that version numbers (George perhaps you could help answer this) the Official Patches could have minor version numbers? I don't know how Transcendence sets version numbers but I don't remember it being in the XML.

The really exciting thing about Part II is that we will see different ships and stations to anything we have seen before. Up till now, everything has just been an evolution, or a tweaking of something we had already seen.

I'd love to see some concept art from George soon! :P

Well, just play 0.7 :D

I would love to see some new stations, maybe a little storyline too. Wonderful spoilers extracted through xml :D

I remember .7. It feels, well empty. The stations are spread and there aren't enough sovereigns.

BTW Privateer, your math didn't quite match up. It will take around three hundred months going .01 at a time, which is about 25 years. I wouldn't mind 95 updates in 32 months. That'd be great! and also means about 3 updates a month, or a little over once a week. :D

In .7 in the intro screen battle thing I saw the old ICS being attacked by a lone hornet, who had no trouble out-maneuvering the slow ICS. It's shots did nothing, but it just kept flying around, and around, and around, and around...

Hmph. The oldest download available is .99a. Anyway, I still remember how different .99d was to 1.04 -- in the old version that I fell in love with years ago, everything post Charon sucked. St Kat's was boring and anything past it was very under-worked and boring. They say space is lonely, but .99d really was lonely - there were few ships and stations at all.
