Ok, yes, I'm aware that we probably won't be seeing this after 1.0 anymore, but it would be nice to know...
1) what happens when a shield is damaged? is it less efficient and/or less HP, or does it just not work?
2) what happens when a drive is damaged? is it less efficient and/or less thrust or does it just not work?
3) what happens to any peripheral that is damaged? is it less efficient, or does it just now work?
4) and the ICX turret? does that damage like a peripheral or a weapon?
Problem is is that I've never had any of these damaged by those accursed ion disrupers - I alwayse get my spanking new hyperion reactor fried, or my NON FIXABLE weapons >.< arg!
Device damage...

Engine damage reduces the output. Shield damage reduces the shield strength. I'm not sure about the other things, but I know a damaged patch spider just doesn't work.Wolfy wrote:Ok, yes, I'm aware that we probably won't be seeing this after 1.0 anymore, but it would be nice to know...

Enhance weapons as soon as you can, as much as you can. Disruptor damage seems to come in 10% increments, so a cannon +30% will get damaged down to +20%.
Certain specialty items (longzhu spheres, for one) can be used to repair some items.
Some low-level items can substitute for harder-to-find higher items: the Patcher Arm for Patch Spiders, for example.
Shameless self-promotion: my dbg modpack has a damage-resistant Tev9 ICX

The tev9 deals way more damage (thus it will kill a good number of the higher hp projectilesAeonic wrote:Off topic, how is a TeV9 ICX better than a laser ICX?

Still off topic...
Why don't they have ICX turrets for just about every level of energy weapon then? Actually I think it would be kind of neat to have different size/function categories for every weapon, possibly even to the point where they're no longer separate weapons but customizable weapon classes.
You have a laser.
You can make it a dual laser, or a spread laser, or an omnidirectional laser, or an auto-targeting (within a certain range) laser, or a fast-firing laser.
You can make it a heavy laser (more weight, range, damage) or a light laser (less weight, range, damage), or an ICX turret (targets missiles).
Same applies for turbolasers, particle beams, TeV 9s, Star Cannons, etc...

Balance, I think. More powerful ICX turrets would make projectiles harmless. This game is easy enough already.Aeonic wrote:Still off topic...

Well realistically if ICX turrets were eating up all your projectiles, what would you do? Shoot more projectiles! I doubt the ICX turrets will protect you from those Houri ships and their barrages.
