What are there bots, (eg. Google bot) are they human or are they spam bots.

Every forum has them. They should be hidden, though.

I also saw something a few days ago it said "[spider]" is that the same as a bot?

I assume that the forum software can detect when access if from the search engine spiders. I.e. search engines have farms of computers running programs that wonder over all web pages following links to build the database that you search in. That is what the gray users are.

They are web spiders crawlers, technically they are robots. However there is another kind of bot around here is:
