What do pictures have to do with identification? It's perfectly possible to have a different picture for an unidentified item. There should be some different pictures, but not too many - some items should be unknown until you try them or identify them.

Different pictures are being implemented. In .8, there were four. Item, shield, weapon and armor. Now there are many. Each version usually has two or three new picture graphics. Frankly, I don't see it as a priority. Who cares? I'd rather have a workable game before content starts being added that d...

Best way to detect ships in space: Heat. Even just living on a spaceship produces a lot of heat, there being nowhere for it to go except out into space. Air-cooling is not an option, so everything must be radiated out. Radars were introduced in late WWII, the previuos inexistence of this useful inve...

If I'm a fighter pilot, I use a cloacking device, among other things, to avoid been caught by the enemy's radar and most important: by the targeting system. Besides, if the enemy cannot fully "perceive" me, the amount of damage recieived must not be the same, unless the enemy has one of the exhaust...

what if that enemy could teleport short distances as well Yeah, and shoot flaming gobs of space cheese, and if it had a briefcase. Jumpdrives are rare, it's unlikely that an entire force would be equipped with them, and in-game, humans don't control that technology. I would prefer a cloak that is r...

I doubt that you'd see an entire battle fleet of Dreadnaughts with a layer of improvised armor. It would be heavy, time consuming and expensive. A layer? Yes. Impractical. But the folks that build stuff like this often don't have to fight in them (or don't test for every eventuality), leaving funny...

I thought that Drake and Tripoli ships were classified as capships, no? Not to mention Earth Slavers. But as far as, your idea, goes, that would make all capships carriers . Not that I have anything wrong with carriers, but I wouldn't like every large ship to be one. I think the real problem with c...

Why wouldn't you have humans in post-heretic space, if you get there, why can't people follow you? There may not be stations, but nothing is stopping the Ranx or Commonwealth or whomever from sending a fleet or two to follow you; maybe human factions only appear in exploration squadrons. If there i...

Well maybe out that far from Commonwealth space, the black market would have a more dominant presense in the corporate bases since there is little or no government "interference." Military and illegals are traded as normal without any ID checks. I've never seen anyone but actual Commonwealth statio...
