Late game balance: One shot armor repair items

In my current game I haven't found any patch spiders, so when I got desperate-escaped from a phobos with a 0HP plate of armor that I really didn't want to replace, I went looking for some barrels or patches. I had to backtrack all the way to 70 Ophiuchi, the system after St. K's, to find any at all....

Kate Morgental getting stuck is potentially more serious, especially if it's before she waxes the BM station for you. I nearly had that happen this last game, but she managed to work her way free somehow.

I have to wonder, why are the ferians there, now? They don't do anything, and new players at least are going to assume they're as off limits as every other friendly ship.

I'd add in an exchange for them, and make them prize shiny things and nice foods.

A little confused by the terminology here; When you say 10% damage, do you mean ten percent of hitpoints removed, or remaining? If it's ten percent hit points removed, then Volkov's repair code, at least, is not working properly. He uses Advanced Reactive, so any of those stations I mentioned should...

Yes, I'm certain it was the Kronosaurus.

I should clarify that it fired at me just fine before I gated out and back in. But after I gated back in it was passive, and headed for the gate itself.

Agreed. As it stands the player either needs to be lucky enough to find a reactor floating around somewhere, or have a net worth that's greater by the worth of their current reactor to afford the next step up.

If you wait long enough, eventually another freighter will come along that's in your escort class. And if it's full, eventually one of the bigger ones will leave and be replaced. I kind of like this, as it discourages 'Korolov farming.' I know I always made an effort to go through all of the korolov...
