Linux in whole is the operating system's name, basically. Really? Who said that? A ba***rd (he said he is one) who wants to take the credit for something he didn't do? Or the person that started it, and had this person not existed we'd be stuck with only proprietary software. Really? Richard Stallm...

DSL includes minimalistic versions of software and is stripped of anything flashy. Yet it's pretty close to 50 megs, and it uses old software. Only Wine, required to run Transcendence, takes about 30 MB :P Basically you either make it good or you don't do it at all. Also, you need a ton of planning,...

Re: Transcendece-Based Linux
You said this: Linux IS, in fact, an operating system. It does, however run on a kernel. This may cause some confusion, but by no means can a kernel be a standalone OS. Yes, a kernel is useless by itself, but you said Linux is an operating system, when in reality it's just a kernel. Linux doesn't in...

Why do they say they need to hack it? Cause they're noobs, thats why, noobs who probably hack every single multi player game, and single player game, out there! People who like to hack just about anything they can get their hands on cause it makes them feel special... Heh, did I say that out loud? ...

You don't understand. Every real GNU/Linux distribution has a server where it hosts additional software, because you can't include them all. If you base it on Ubuntu, actually you'll need about 35 GB free space.

Really? Richard Stallman from the FSF started the GNU project in 1984 to develop a free (as in freedom) Unix replacement. In the '90s, GNU was almost complete, but it was missing an important piece: a good kernel. The GNU Hurd took longer than expected and only in 2004 worked reliably. But, in 1992,...

Re: Transcendece-Based Linux
I was wondering if anybody would like to get involved in a Transcendence based Linux? Linux is an open source operating system (like Windows XP or Mac OS/X), meaning you are free to edit it entirely and keep all rights to it. (Of course, George Moromisato will retain all rights to this) L...

should we also ask for elements that would be useful in this thread too? if so I would like static data in items and the functions needed to work with them. No, please. I'm only interested in functions right now. Thanks! Alright... I'd say sysFormatDrive  Neah...how about full access to the Wi...

 You're very lucky. One time I was fighting a swarm of Viking and Corsair II ships when some Sung came in and set my Invincible down. I didn't worry much, as I had some Horochoral (?) armor and it reflects particle and has 200 HP, and lasers barely scratch it. But I forgot I blasted a Ferian ba...

Currently I use a 16-bit number to keep track of the number of ticks that a ship is paralyzed for. Today most people have over 256 megs of RAM, so what exactly prevents you from using a long int? A few bytes isn't a big deal and it would prevent overflow bugs. Or you could as well make it unsigned ...
