NGC 7023

Requires intermediate skills

Skill Level
Like most reflection nebulae, NGC 7023 is faint and requires a good deal of exposure. Even harder is capturing the surrounding dark, gaseous environment.

SeptemberBest Month
Northern Hemisphere observers will have no problem finding NGC 7023, high in the sky during late Summer and early Fall.

Refractors
Newtonians
SCTs

Recommended Equipment
I recommend a fast scope, such as a rich-field Newtonian, for NGC 7023.

Slower telescopes, such as an SCT or a small refractor, will require guided exposures in order to capture all the faint detail.
